Meet Lori

Lori Kansteiner, LMFT has over 20 years experience in the mental health industry working with co-occurring disorders in residential treatment since 1995. She has worked as an addictions treatment counselorgroup facilitator, sober companion, EMDR consultant, and therapist.

Biography & Certifications

Lori graduated from California Lutheran University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology in 2006. She has been working with people with addictions since 2001 in residential, intensive out-patient and outpatient settings as a certified addiction counselor from 2001 to 2021. Lori is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist, as well as an EMDR Approved Consultant for The Institute for Creative Mindfulness, as well as a Program Clinician for the NFL Substance Abuse Program.

Lori has worked with high-profile clients such as politicians, professional athletes, musicians, and actors. She has extensive experience working with high acuity clients with substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, borderline disorder, and complex trauma.

Lori uses a mindfulness-based approach with EMDR Therapy. Lori began teaching mindfulness in 1996 where she incorporated breathing, movement, guided visualization and meditation in groups at residential treatment facilities in Malibu, CA. She currently studies Tai’ Chi Chu’an and Chi Gong.
